Planners say yes to farm bungalow bid
Planning permission has been granted to build a house near a farm in Kippen.
Stirling Council planners have conditionally approved an application by Gavin Armstrong to build a bungalow on the site 310 metres north of Crawfordston Farm.
The site currently forms part of farmland associated with the farm, situated on the opposite side of the A811 to the south. The house is to sit immediately to the east of two large agricultural sheds owned and used by the applicant on the Carse of the River Forth.
In their decision, the planners said:“The applicant currently runs a business from the site drying hay using a unique method, which he then sells, utilising the two agricultural sheds. A submitted planning justification report has clearly detailed the applicant’s business and the need for him to reside on site.
This combined with a road junction manoeuvres report justifies why living on site will reduce traffic using the junction with the A811.
“The new house has been designed and sited in a manner appropriate to the countryside and sympathetic to its setting. The proposed drawings show a house of high -quality design and use of materials that will ensure a good fit with its environment.
Additionally, the design offers, but does not replicate, traditional agricultural architecture allowing for a new house to sit comfortably next to existing farm buildings.”
The council’s transport development team had no objection subject to conditions being added including resurfacing of the access at the A811 and the provision of give-way road markings and junction marker bollards.
