Taekwon-do youngsters step up during lockdown in Zoom session belt test
Young LCD Taekwon-do Stirling students haven’t let the coronavirus stop them training.
When the doors of their training hall closed, instructors Liz Mckenna (6th Deg), Chris Mckenna (4th Deg) and David Rankin re-started their classes using the Zoom app and were delighted by the uptake of a large portion of their students.
Instructor Liz said: “Between the three of us we are able to run up to 16 sessions per week for our students. This has had a great effect on their knowledge and development.
“There are some aspects of training that we can’t do online and some areas that are more difficult to teach and correct but we have been able to focus on smaller groups more regularly.”
The classes and training ran so well that the instructors found themselves in a position where they were able to put the students forward for a formal Zoom session belt test. These were run under strict guidelines and format all emailed to the parents’ beforehand.
The grading panel was delighted with the performance with the students able to do anything that they were asked and more. All students put forward passed with flying colours:
The successful participants were: Under Eights - Max Lyon Daniel Muir and Finn Gaspirini; Over Eights - Lori Foy, Robynn Stevenson, Zane Foy, Thomas Muir, Archie Lawson, Scott Herd, Lyra Graham, Lucas Macfadyen, Erin Cantwell, Leon Hosie, Andrew Waddell, Luca Gaspirni, Lois Nicol and Ruaraidh Docherty.
