Wet and windy, just a typical July then
It was yet another summer week of changeable conditions, writes weather editor Scott Mclean.
The week got off to a dry but windy start with a maximum wind gust of 30mph.
The breezy conditions continued for the rest of week and unfortunately were then accompanied with some wet weather, with over 16mm of rain falling last Wednesday.
Maximum temperatures on most days were in the high teens although when the clouds cleared we reached a pleasant 21.5 Centigrade on Thursday.
The lowest temperature of the week was 8.7 Centigrade on Tuesday, July 21.
Maximum daily rainfall for the week was 16.51mm on Wednesday, July 22, for a weekly rainfall total of 30.77mm.
Wind speeds touched 30mph on Sunday, July 19.
Looking at the week ahead, after a showery, cool and breezy start to the week it should be mostly dry midweek when high pressure will be over our area but there will be a lot of cloud around and perhaps the odd shower for Thursday.
A low pressure system tries to move into the area from the Atlantic during the second half of the week and the battle between the high and low pressure will determine how much wet weather will affect us especially over the weekend.
The temperature will rise though towards the end of the week to a warm 24 Centigrade.
The earliest sunrise will be 5.25am with the latest sunset at 9.16pm.
Did You Know: With it being a summer month you would think that July would be one of our driest months of the year. But over the past 10 years, July is the seventh wettest month in terms of most rainfall in each particular month.
