Diane’s masks raise a fab £4k for hospice

A Bridge of Allan woman has raised more than £4,000 for Strathcarron Hospice by making face coverings.

Diane Clifford, who is a rep for Avon, started making them for her family and friends at the end of April but since the end of May has also been busy making them for the wider community, raising some funds for Strathcarron Hospice in the process.

She said: “Covid arrived, we were all locked down, my Avon got temporarily shelved and I was now a full time home school teacher (chef, cleaner, counsellor etc).

“Before lockdown I had my first quilting project all planned, but then thought I could maybe use these beautiful fabrics for a better purpose and so started making face coverings for my family and friends.

“I was then asked if I would make some for others, so decided to try and raise some funds in the process for a local charity, Strathcarron, which provides a necessary service for my local community and has helped my family before.”

Diane set herself an initial target of 500 face coverings and suggested a minimum donation of £3 for each.

However, she has since made 1,050 in total - raising a whopping £4,227 for the hospice along with way.

She said: “I still have some fabrics left, so will hopefully restart sewing some more for a few days each week, once the kids are back in school.”
