Bookies doubt awin forbinos

Tarran Mackenzie has hailed his best year on a superbike after concluding the season with a double podium at Brands Hatch.

The Stirling-born Mcams Yamaha rider went into the final weekend of the Bennetts British Superbike Championsh­ip season with an outside shot of taking the title. However, a crash in the second of the weekend’s three outings killed off any distant chances.

But Taz bounced back with a second-placed finish in the final race of the season – and was pleased with a campaign in which he finished fifth overall.

He said:“it’s been a good season, my best so far in the Superbike class with more wins and podiums than any other year. We didn’t get the best of starts to the season at Donington and Snetterton, but since then it has been pretty good.

“I made it hard for myself crashing out in free practice on Friday. Obviously I don’t do it on purpose, so it was annoying as we lost those valuable laps as it was wet for FP2 this morning meaning we went into qualifying blind.

“I felt pretty good in the race on Saturday, going from ninth to third, so coming into Sunday I felt

Stirling Albion gained a creditable draw at home to title favourites for League Two Queen’s Park this week and are involved in a derby showdown with Stenhousem­uir this week at Ochilview.

The visitors are 19/10 outsiders with Mcbookie. com with Stenny 21/20 favourites and the draw 5/2. First scorers include Andy Ryan at 6/1 and Jack Leitch at 10/1.
