Some of the charities and beneficiaries
●STIRLING COUNCIL SOCIAL SERVICES – Many of the gifts are distributed via the council’s social workers, who support some of the area’s most vulnerable and needy children.
●STIRLING YOUNG CARERS – Provides one-to-one support, young carers groups, information and advice, and day trips and residents to children and young people who help look after someone in their family who is ill or disabled.
●STIRLING WOMEN’S AID – Supports women and children affected by domestic abuse, including providing a local shelter.
●HOME-START STIRLING – Offers friendly, informal support by matching families, with at least one child under the age of five, with a suitable volunteer who will visit them in their own home during times they experiencing some kind of stress and/or crisis.
●PLUS – Supports children and young people with disabilities, to have access to social, leisure and recreational activities and opportunities.
●CORNTON VALE AND GLENOCHIL FAMILY CENTRES AND HELP HUBS – Aim to provide a supportive, friendly and welcoming environment for prisoners’ families visiting the establishment. Staff and trained volunteers encourage more frequent visits and maintaining family ties in order to reduce re-offending, as well as increasing the stability of children’s lives and achieving positive long-term outcomes for all of the family.
●BARNARDO’S – Runs a number of projects to help children, young people, parents and carers across the UK, helping to protect and support children and young people with a range of difficulties to live happy and healthy lives.
●FORTH VALLEY ROYAL HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S WARD – Helping to make Christmas special for children who have to spent time in hospital over Christmas and relieving the pressure for parents and carers.
●SUPPORT4FAMILIES – Helps families affected by a loved one’s drug or alcohol misuse, including kinship carers looking after young relatives.
