Radio station offering up professional podcast help

Community can hire studio

- CHRIS MARZELLA

Budding podcasters can now hire out a city centre studio to create professional sounding shows using top audio technology.

The studios, based in the Made in Stirling building in King Street, are home of Stirling City Radio station, a community enterprise led by volunteers.

The radio station has reopened after lockdown for live shows and is widening its remit, offering podcasters a space to work in.

Some of the first new users to benefit from the space are presenters Nory Hope and Niall Mcowan from The Scottish Tour Guide Podcast.

Nory is a tour guide on Heartland Travel Tours of Scotland and Niall runs Scottish Guided Tours. The duo decided to use their travel expertise to share their love and passion of Scotland – and share it with the world.

Nory said: “When we initially had the idea for the podcast we were going to create it on our phones but when we found out about being able to hire the Stirling City Radio studio we were really excited about it. The technology and equipment in the studio makes it sound really professional and gives it a really clear, rich sound.

“We were given support and training on how to use the equipment and James the station manager has been brilliant with us and has been on hand for any questions and guidance throughout.

“It is great to have this resource for the community.”

SCR station manager James Russell said: “Stirling City Radio was set up by the community for the community so we are delighted to be able to open our doors and offer this service to people who are passionate about podcasting and broadcasting.

“We are really enthusiastic about helping hone the talents and skills of local people so it’s fantastic to see the space open once again for the community to use to gain experience and develop their expertise.

“We have two custombuilt studios using radio industry standard equipment so making professional output broadcasting and pro podcasts facilities and training is on offer to everyone wishing to get there ideas to air.”

The studio costs £10 per hour to hire. For further information email studio@ stirlingcityradio.com.
