The Weather report

- SCOTT MCLEAN

After a few weeks with little rain last week (October 18-24) was rather unsettled with rain recorded every day and a weekly rainfall total of just over two inches.

The rain was accompanied at times with blustery conditions especially over the weekend as the wind gusts reached 30mph.

It was a mild week with a high temperature of 14.2ºc with overnight lows only dropping to 5.4ºc.

Maximum temperature was 14.2ºc on October 21 and lowest was 5.4ºc on October 24. Most rain (17.27mm) fell on October 24 with maximum wind gust of 29mph on the same day. Weekly rainfall total was 52.58mm.

The week ahead is looking similar with perhaps a little more in the way of brief sunny spells midweek but the risk of rain will remain for every day.

Towards the end of the week and at times over the weekend the rain could turn much heavier and if so that could lead to local flooding. The rain will once again be accompanied by a blustery wind making it feel rather unpleasant at times outdoors.

Low pressure systems affecting our weather means the temperature will once again stay above freezing all week with a high of 15ºc.

Earliest sunrise is 7.23amd latest sunset 4.33pm.

Did You Know?:

As October draws to a close the temperature so far this month has failed to drop below freezing in the city area. The last time that happened was in 2016.

In our area sub-zero temperatures during October usually only happen on one or two days of the month.
