SWANSWATER

After the excitement of last week’s record Gold, it was a much quieter week at Swanswater.

Travel restrictions, weather conditions, and time of year meant that the footfall was again low. With the water temperature rising slightly from to 7oc at the end of the week, the fish are still well spread out around the main pond although anglers are having to go five to six feet down to find them.

If there was a hot spot it was the far bay round to the island including the area around the bridge.

Keiron Lydon had a successful outing in this area on Friday, landing nine fish including the three for 9lb that he kept. Also doing well were Robert Cochrane six C&R and Tim Gellaitry five C&R.

There were plenty of bags of one or two fish with one delighted angler being Tracy Allan who fulfilled her wish to land a Goldie, taking a cracker at 3lb 8oz from the Meadow Pond.

As the catch returns from the bait pond show, there are still plenty of Golds to be caught there as well. The most successful fly patterns this week included Dancer, Ally Mccoist, Damsel, Bloodworm and Buzzer, whilst green power bait was doing the best job on the bait pond.

At present the fishery is closed until 8am on Monday, December 28, but with the new Tier 4 restrictions coming in to force on Boxing Day, this may change. Please check that the fishery is open before travelling – all information will be on the Facebook page and website.

Swanswater would like to thank everyone who has supported them through what has been a very strange and difficult year and to wish you all a happy and safe Christmas.

Catches: Kieron Lydon three for 9lb plus six C&R; Chris Allan three for 8lb from the Millpond; Colin Henderson three for 7lb from the Meadow Pond; Robert Smith two for 5lb plus two C&R; Danny Doherty two for 5lb; Tracy Allan 3lb 8oz Gold from the Meadow Pond; Robert Cochrane six C&R; Tim Gellaitry five C&R; Euan Perry four C&R; David Devine and Stuart Frame three C&R.
