Stirling ‘ticks all the boxes’ for visitors across the country
Stirling‘ticks all the tourism boxes’for visitors across the country hoping to get out and about as lockdown eases.
VisitScotland regional director for Stirling Neil Christison’s message, however, comes with the warning that the tourism restart should be carried out safely and with visitors acting responsibly.
Reflecting on a year of lockdowns, he said a year ago many people may have “scoffed”at the thought of Covid-19 still altering their way of life today.
“Thankfully there is hope on the horizon as April 26 brings us more normality and the much-needed re-opening of tourism,”said Mr Christison.
“In Stirling and the wider
Forth Valley we have faced some huge challenges along with the rest of the country. The pandemic has had a devastating effect on tourism but I have been proud to witness the resilience of the industry as in the face of unprecedented times they’ve updated their operations and adapted to new protocol, giving visitors a sense of security.”
Mr Christison said:“It is important we take the time to support the tourism industry bounce back by doing things we have missed,”he added,“like visiting our favourite restaurants, having a family day out, booking a night away or enjoying a proper holiday in Scotland.
“Attractions, tour guides and hospitality businesses are gearing up to welcome visitors back across the region – with places like The National Wallace Monument offering free entry to Stirling Council area residents.”
He added:“Last year we saw a strong appetite from Scots to explore their homeland and from our neighbours to the south longing to venture northwards. We are confident we will see this repeated after April 26. Stirling has something for everyone.”
He stressed, however, it was important this was done in a responsible and respectful manner without putting undue pressure on infrastructure, communities and natural assets.
