A Stirling man with mobility problems is calling on the council to tackle a problem with dampness at his St Ninians flat.
Aumar Bashir moved into the property at Robertson Place at the end of February after living in homeless accommodation.
Stirling Council pointed out this week that repair work at the property, in common with repairs throughout the district, had been delayed by the pandemic.
Mr Bashir suffers from mobility problems following an accident which damaged his knee and this causes recurring pain. He also has epilepsy and sciatica.
The 51-year-old pointed out that there is black damp mould on windowsills inside the flat and wallpaper is also peeling off some of the walls.
He said:“I have been in touch with Stirling Council quite a few times about these matters, but nothing has been done about it.
“I’d really like to see it fixed. You can smell the dampness when you come into the flat. I have mobility problems – I injured my knee a while back I have recurring pain as a result. I also have sciatica. I have been in and out of hospital.
“I feel I shouldn’t have to put up with the flat in its current condition.”
A Stirling Council spokesperson said this week:“Due to strict Scottish Government Covid guidelines, we only carried out emergency housing repairs until the end of April and we sympathise with those affected, including Mr Bashir.”
