CHURCH

All are welcome to Sunday’s service at 11.30am. The revised guidelines mean that there is now plenty of room for everyone who wishes to attend and it is no longer necessary to reserve a seat in advance. Face coverings are still required and social distancing is still in place, but we’re back to singing! During the summer months services are not being recorded and available on line. GARGUNNOCK GARGUNNOCK KIRK

Three events have been organised by the Welcome Team of Gargunnock Kirk as part of Archaeolog­y Month, all weather dependent with Covid restrictio­ns followed. On Saturday, September 18, from 10am-4pm there is a Kirk Open Day when the team invites everyone to find out about the history of Gargunnock’s oldest building. A local historian present to answer questions and there will be display boards, including about the Agricultur­e Show and the 1702 bell, which will be on display. A video will be running aabout the history plus a children’s treasure hunt in the Old Kirkyard as well as guided tours, home baking and refreshmen­ts by donation. All welcome – no booking needed but please bring your name and phone number for Track and Trace. On Sunday, September 19 at 3pm there will be a 19th Century Kirk Service, reenacted in costume - conducted by Ian Roy, Reader with the Church of Scotland. All welcome – no booking needed. Gay Burt will conduct guided heritage walks of the Old King’s Highway on Sunday, September 19 and Tuesday, September 21 at 2pm and on Thursday, September 30 at 11am. KILLEARN KIRK

Continuing with the study of the Book of James, Sunday’s service at 10.30am is about learning to be submissive to the Will of God and so turning away from all evil. As normal worship will begin at 10.30am with a short period of prayer in the hall foyer from 9.45-9.55am. As previously the Prayer Group to which all are welcome is on Wednesday from 10-11am. In addition to the morning service there will be a second service at 4pm devised by Stuart and Ruth to encourage families to worship together in a less formal way. At both morning and afternoon services there will be a short celebratio­n of Holy Communion. Session members are asked to note that in addition to the meeting on Tuesday, September 14, there will a further study group on Saturday, September 18 to discuss the way ahead.

STRATHENDR­ICK STITCHERS

The group - formerly the Stranedric­k Branch of the Embroidere­rs’ Guild - will resume later this month in Killearn Kirk Hall and meets on the third Tuesday of the month between September and May from 10am to 2pm. The meeting will be Covid-compliant so attendees should ‘Bring Your Own Banquet’ - lunch, a mug, cutlery and crockery. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the meeting. The Strathendr­ick Stitchers also has a youth outreach programme for children aged eight-15 and meets normally on two Thursdays after school and one Saturday morning a month in two of the local libraries. Fabric Fun hopes to be up and running once groups are allowed at the venues. The final outing of the year was to Falkirk Tryst Golf Club on Sunday, August 29 and 11 members played for the Jubilee Cup, Jack Hay Cup, Iain Gillies Trophy and the Railton Scott Memorial Trophy. Results were as follows: Jubilee Cup 1 Rob McQuater 44 points; 2 Iain Allen 33 points; 3 - Douglas Laing 31 points (bih). THORNHILL NORRIESTON CHURCH

On Sunday the minister, the Rev Ellen Larson Davidson, will lead worship in Norrieston Church at 11.15am. Restrictio­ns are now only one metre between family groups so there is a little more seating available but hand sanitising, mask wearing and contact tracing are still required. Pew cushions have returned and best of all hymns can be sung again, albeit while still wearing masks. GARDENING SOCIETY

The flower show takes place tomorrow (Saturday) conforming with Covid-19 rules. Masks must be worn while inside the community hall. Exhibits can be brought to the hall tonight (Friday) from 7.30pm to 9pm or tomorrow (Saturday) from 7.30am to 9am. The last winners of the trophies should return them to the secretary tonight.
