Chance for young to learn skills and help out
Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE) is looking for young people aged 16-24 who are interested in helping out their community and learning new skills for employment.
The Volunteering into Employment programme, part of the Young Person’s Guarantee, is open to young people who are not currently in employment, education or training who are interested in volunteering but would require additional support.
All young people coming through the programme will receive support from SVE. This will include understanding their career goals, identifying a suitable volunteering placement for them, and agreeing additional support needed.
Along with the young person’s placement support, an SQAAward in Volunteering Skills (SCQF Level 4) will be offered by Stirling Community Enterprise.
Young people are able to gain experience with their chosen placement by committing to at least 12 hours a week.
Caitlyn McDermid from SVE said:“We hope young people will gain the skills and experience they need through volunteering to go onto a further education or paid employment. We know lots of young people are passionate about their community and this programme is a great way for them to gain new experiences that will help their future career.”
SVE will also support the third sector organisations with this new supported volunteering programme, who will receive a small grant to help them make any adjustments necessary and to aid their ability to engage a young person who may require additional support.
