Climate in the frame
Photographers of all ages have submitted their climate-conscious snaps as part of a competition being organised by a Callander school pupil.
Aidan Cronin, who attends McLaren High, has come up with the competition during Callander Climate Fringe Week - a week-long series of events taking place across the town this week highlighting the ways people can reduce their emissions and protect the climate.
All of the submissions to the competition are based around the theme‘What it means to live in a changing climate in Scotland’and the shortlisting judges have said there have been a number of excellent entries submitted.
The initial shortlist selection is made by teachers at the school, before the winners are selected by
Doug Allan, world-famous wildlife cameraman and Stirling Unviersity graduate.
There are three categories for the competition: Primary (P1–P7), High School (S1–S6) and Adult (18+).
Lynn Wylie and Dawn Cullen, art teachers at McLaren High, said:“We were so impressed by the variety of images in response to the theme of climate change.
“The photos were both technically and creatively interesting and of a high standard across the categories. Well done to all involved.”
For the winners, Doug is offering personalised and signed copies of his book, while McLaren Leisure Centre and Feeds and Stoves have generously offered vouchers for the other finalists.
The award-winning photographs can then be seen at McLaren Leisure Centre tomorrow (Saturday).
