Tickets will be available online for the Stirling Community Lottery from Tuesday, November 9, with a chance to scoop a £25,000 jackpot and support local good causes.

The first draw takes place on Saturday December 11, with 60p from every £1 ticket going to local charities and good causes. There is also the chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Tablet in the first draw for those that take part.

It’s free for good causes to register for the Stirling Community Lottery. So far local good causes have been registering on the site with more signing up each week.

Amanda Namey, group organiser for Equi-Power Central Scotland RDA, said:“We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the Stirling Community Lottery. It offers us a fresh, fun way to raise funds and boost our profile, which will help us to reach more participants and expand our services throughout the community.”

Players have a 50-1 chance of winning one of the prizes, which range from the £25,000 jackpot to three extra tickets.

Anne Knox, deputy chief officer, from Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE), who are hosting the lottery said:“The Stirling Community Lottery is an innovative way to support charity and voluntary organisations to raise funds in an entirely free, digital and simple way following a tough period of restricted fundraising due to the pandemic.

“We will be encouraging local causes to register as a beneficiary of the lottery. The community lottery concept is an idea other communities are exploring and has been successfully launched by several organisations already.”

A lottery management company, Gatherwell, has been appointed to run the scheme, having already launched similar lotteries with the Argyll Community Lottery, the Fire Brigades Union and the Vegetarian Society.

Ben Speare, Gatherwell’s managing director, said:“We are delighted that Gatherwell has been awarded the opportunity to run the new Stirling Community Lottery. We’re looking forward to helping support Stirling good causes in partnership with SVE.”
