Planners support homes scheme
Plans to build four houses in Strathblane, which have attracted almost 30 objections, are being recommended for conditional approval by Stirling Council planners.
Ewan Buchanan wants to develop land 60 metres south east of Aros House, off Moor Road.
His application is due before Stirling Council’s planning panel onTuesday.
Strathblane Community Council has objected on grounds including the unsuitability of Moor Road and Old Mugdock Road for additional residential traffic and the adverse impact on the wider landscape and amenity.
Thirty-one letters were received by planners, of which 29 objected to the proposals citing grounds including siting, layout, density and plot size; lack of affordable housing provision; access arrangements; adverse impact on the character of the surrounding area including on Punchbowl Dam.
However, in their report due before Tuesday’s panel, the planners said:“Should this application be approved, a financial contribution towards affordable housing will be required.
“The council’s roads service has not objected to the proposals. Moor Road currently serves more than five residential properties and approval has been granted in recent years for further residential properties without upgrading this road or its access. Whilst it is acknowledged that Moor Road, and in particular Old Mugdock Road, do not fully provide the infrastructure that could be expected for roads serving residential developments, it is considered that the level of development proposed will not significantly increase traffic on the aforementioned roads to the extent that road safety will be compromised.“
