Controlling Castle’s emphatic league win Comfortable victory as Doune dominate match

Doune eased their way to a comfortable league win, scoring two goals in each half to see off the challenge of their Lanarkshire opponents.
Opening exchanges were scrappy as a resolute Holytown defended in numbers. Doune dominated possession without creating any clear opportunities.
Doune edged into a 1-0 lead after 28 minutes.
Christopher Macdonald whipped in a wicked corner to the near post. Under pressure from Callum Smith, a Holytown defender could only knock the ball high into his own net to give Doune a fortunate, but deserved advantage.
Doune doubled their lead on 33 minutes. Lukasz Duszynski darted into the box and drove an inviting ball across the face of the goal. With his back to the goal, David Gillespie turned the ball into the far corner of the net with a neat back-heel finish from 10 yards for 2-0.
Holytown threatened for the first time after 42 minutes. A low drive from the edge of the box slipped inches wide with Callum Davison scurrying across goal to cover.
Doune ended the half strongly and led 2-0 at the break.
The Castle took control from the restart and pressed forward at every opportunity. Christopher Macdonald came closest, his stinging drive from 22 yards forcing an excellent stop from the Colts keeper.
Christopher Macdonald was not to be denied and he made it 3-0 a minute later. Macdonald shrugged off the challenge of a defender and prodded the ball high into the net from 12 yards as the keeper desperately raced from his line in a futile attempt to block.
Doune made it 4-0 on 61 minutes.
Andy Innes hurled a long throw to the near post. Niall McClure flicked the ball into the centre of the goal. David Gillespie out-jumped everyone to head the ball down and into the far corner of the net from six yards.
Doune continued to control the game, but spurned several good opportunities to extend their lead as they eased to an emphatic win.
