Families are struggling with bin cuts

-

Dear Editor,

As someone with a very young family I can speak of how the cuts to grey bin collections have personally affected us.

Prior to them being brought in, I never had to travel to the tip with excess landfill rubbish because my bin was full. Now it is a regular trip we need to make as our grey bin is full before its monthly collection comes around.

We recycle as much as we can and have asked neighbours if they have any spare space we can use however, they have limited space too.

There are many people in the same situation and I have met people at the tip who are there for the same reason. We have all just received our council tax bills that includes another rise and we are dealing with a basic service that is not delivering for residents and tax payers.

SNP councillors that voted through these cuts accused me and my colleagues of a political stunt in opposing them. We voiced many concerns about these cuts including how they were brought in and the serious negative impact they would have.

We all know they are not working and must be reversed.

Councillor Bryan Flannagan

Stirling Council

Distilleryloss Dear Editor,

I am stunned by Stirling Council’s decision to reject the Wolfcraig Distillery project.

Prior to retirement I travelled the world promoting Scotch Whisky alongside my role in visitor management at a Speyside distillery - therefore fully aware of the opportunities this project offers Stirling.

I also know and have met a number of the management involved in the project and they are highly respected within the Scotch Whisky industry with enormous knowledge and experience required for this exciting project.

Just analyse visitor numbers from any Scotch Whisky distillery and the benefits to their local area and you will realise the loss this decision is for the whole of the Stirling area.

I also ask the employment opportunities such a fantastic attraction offers our area is not forgotten.

Rethink quickly so another location doesn’t benefit from this ill-judged decision. Malcolm Murray Stirling

Greateffort Dear Editor,

I have been very encouraged by the out pouring of support for the people who are fleeing the atrocities in Ukraine.

People in Stirling and further afield across Scotland have rallied behind those who have lost everything.

It restores some faith in human kind.
