Stirling is in staycation ‘top ten’list
Stirling has been named as one of the best places in the UK for a family staycation - and the best in Scotland.
The area reached number four in a top ten released by website comparethemarket.com.
Online searches for ‘family breaks UK’ increased by more than 175 per cent in just 12 months of the pandemic.
Now comparethemarket. com has published the first edition of its Family Staycations Index.
The index highlights the best locations for family breaks by looking at a variety of factors including types of accommodation, food, entertainment, healthcare facilities, green space, and beaches, along with the cost of an average meal.
Stirling came in at number five on the list, beaten only by Windsor and Maidenhead in first place and Cornwall, St Albans and Cambridge.
Hastings, Winchester, Isle of Wight, Oxford and Warwick also made the list. A spokesperson said: “Stirling shows that beaches aren’t the only staycation attraction.
“The only top 10 destination in Scotland, it boasts Stirling Castle, with its vaults and exhibitions. It scores particularly high in our ranking for food and places to stay. A meal in Stirling could cost you £35 for a three-courser for two in a mid-range restaurant.”
