Shock as sun gives way to wintry blast
It was a glorious spring week in Stirling last week with long periods of warm sunshine with the temperature peaking at 18.7 Centigrade on Sunday which was our warmest day since September 26 last year, writes Observer weather columnist Scott Mclean.
There was also no recorded rainfall, making it our first rain-free week since late August.
The lowest temperature was -0.2 Centigrade on Monday, March 21.
Windspeeds reached 19mph on Sunday, March 20.
The saying “what a difference a week makes” is very apt for this week after last week’s glorious weather we will be back to cold and at times wintry weather this week which will be a shock to the system.
Midweek the maximum daytime temperature will be as low as 5 Centigrade, compared to last week’s maximum which was close to 19 Centigrade.
Overnight frosts with lows down to -3 Centigrade later in the week and there will be some wintry weather with the return of sleet and possibly snow midweek. Some sunny intervals later in the week but it will still feel cold
Did You Know – Sunday’s 18.7 Centigrade temperature was just 0.2 Centigrade short of our all time March record temperature of 18.9 Centigrade, set on March 18, 2021.
