Scottish curlers backon trackin Lasvegas
Victories over Denmark and Germany saw Scotland’s Team Paterson move into the top half of a tightly-congested table at the LGT World Men’s Curling Championship on day three of the competition in Las Vegas.
Having lost both matches the previous day, the wins were all the more welcome for The Peak-based squad and skip Ross Paterson said that he and team-mates Kyle Waddell, Duncan Menzies and Craig Waddell had all taken satisfaction from the way they settled to their task at a vital stage of the event.
He said: “That was a great day and a really good bounce back.”
The victories – 7-3 over Denmark and 5-4 against Germany – followed a disappointing day at the office on Sunday when they lost to Korea 9-6 and Norway 7-4. The Stirling-trained rink opened their championship bid with a 5-4 win over Italy and going into matches yesterday against USA and Finland, they sat in joint second with Germany, Sweden, Switserland and USA behind unbeaten Canada.
