Sports clubs launch use of child wellbeing apps

-

Stirling Albion FC and Stirling Albion Junior Academy (SAJA) have launched the use of a special online tool with the aim of improving child wellbeing and child protection reporting across the organisations.

Toot Toot Sport is an online app which has recently been trialled across the Youth Development U16s, U18SS and U20s teams and the Junior Academy 2006/07 teams, and will be rolled out to the rest of the SAJA over the coming weeks.

It will allow players and members to report anything directly to the club’s Child Wellbeing and Child Protection Officer and provide supporting evidence if required.

Injuries, feedback and safeguarding issues such as bullying can be flagged up, with messages sent anonymously if required.

The new initiative was launched during a meeting hosted by Stirling Albion FC and SAJA attended by over 100 players, coaches and parents and has been well received so far.

Stirling Albion Junior Academy Child Well-being and Child Protection Officer, Jim Mcallister, said:“safeguarding our children and young people is paramount at Stirling Albion FC and Stirling Albion Junior Academy.

“It is a very positive step to see this technology introduced to provide a safe platform for players and members to report incidents, including those which make them feel unhappy or unsafe, allowing us to then respond with appropriate support and guidance where necessary.”

The online tool is used by other SFA clubs including Celtic FC, Rangers FC and Aberdeen FC.
