Banned driver up in court
A motorist was caught driving while disqualified on a Stirling road in the early hours.
Marcin Urban had been driving on Causewayhead Road on October 27 this year.
He had been disqualified from driving the previous December for fourteen months.
The 35-year-old had admitted charges of driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
Fiscal depute Lindsey Brooks told Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday that officers had been in a police vehicle on Causewayhead Road at 1.30am that day.
They became suspicious when they saw a car travelling on the road making a u-turn.
They followed the vehicle which they pulled over, Ms Brooks added.
Four people were inside with the accused in the driver’s seat.
Officers found out that 35-year-old Urban had been disqualified from driving after carrying out checks.
The fiscal depute pointed out that it had been noted in the police report that the accused was not a native English speaker and a Polish translator was used to communicate with him.
Sheriff Derek Hamilton asked Urban if he understood exactly what was being said in court and he replied that he did not.the matter was continued until April 20 for the appointment of a Polish interpreter.
Urban, of Millers Lade Avenue, Sauchie, was ordered to appear on that date.
