Cell warning to woman who cut off her tag

-

A Stirling woman who had been placed on a Restriction of Liberty Order had cut off her tag as it was “restricting the blood flow to her leg”.

Kay Mason, of Mclaren Terrace, had received the order on a charge of stealing cash at an address in Alloa on May 5, 2020 – aggravated by abuse of her partner or expartner.

The 32-year-old had appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court this week after having breached the order.

Her agent Lara Thomson told Sheriff Derek Hamilton that Mason accepted that she had “cut the tag off on the basis it was restricting blood flow to her leg”.

The lawyer added that the accused had gone to her daughter’s home afterwards where her leg was “observed to have been swollen”.

Mr Thomson had also told the court that her client had a number of mental health conditions including anxiety.

Sheriff Hamilton told Stirling Sheriff Court he would revoke the order and continued matters until June 6 for a criminal justice social work report.

She was ordered to appear on that date. Referring to an outburst in the lobby outside the court room before the matter called, Sheriff Hamilton asked Mason if she had been responsible.

She said she was, but could not explain why it had occurred.

He told her if there was any repeat of the behaviour she would be placed in the cells.
