Sewer upgrade progressing in Dunblane
Scottish Water’s £3 million investment project to deliver essential improvements to the waste water infrastructure in Dunblane is making progress.
The major works involve the replacement of and upgrades to the existing sewer network to increase capacity and help reduce the risk of internal and external sewer flooding.
Upgrade work is now underway in George Street and is anticipated to be completed by Friday June 17. As work on George Street progresses, road traffic management will move on a rolling basis in order to help minimise disruption for road users and local residents. Parking is currently suspended half way along George Street.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “All road traffic management has been agreed in liaison with Stirling Council, as well as engagement with community representatives, to enable sections of the work to be carried out safely.
“We thank all road users and the local community for their patience and understanding while these works are under way.
“Surface water pipe laying is ongoing in the field behind Hillside, moving towards Argyle Way. With the initial two phases of new sewer pipe installation along Claredon Place almost complete, the remaining section of work is due to begin shortly.
“However, we are experiencing some unanticipated delays due to global bitumen shortages and the exact start date of final works in Claredon Place has yet to be confirmed.
“At the end of April, improvement works are expected to progress to Springfield Terrace, with work to be carried out on Argyle Way simultaneously.
“Our alliance partner, amey-binnies, is delivering the project which is due for completion by the end of July 2022.
“As with all works of this nature, our programme can be subject to change due to circumstances outwith our control such as supply chain issues.”
