Bannockburn House backdrop as kids re-enact battle on film
A short film of Scotland’s greatest battle featuring around 70 young people was filmed at Bannockburn House recently.
Re-enactments of the Battle of Bannockburn were shot over three days at the visitor attraction.
Cumbernauld-based Shakespeare Kids CIC had been working with their own students aged between four and 21 as well as 18 young people from Stirling Council’syoung Champions Board for the Bannockburn House project.
Bannockburn House events manager Ross Caldwell said:“this is such a fantastic way for children to learn history in a fun and creative way, gaining and developing so many skills and confidence along the journey.
“Bannockburn House is, of course, a perfect setting for this project and it’s been great fun hosting Shakespeare Kids at the house”
Shakespeare Kids CIC creative director Sharon Mcnally added:“the project’s aim is to make every child and young person feel an important part of the team and to create a safe and nurturing environment where they can be themselves and express their creativity in their own way.”
On Saturday, June 25 Bannockburn
House will host a Children’s Fayre, which is part of a series of events over four days at locations which also include The Legends Cafe at the Wallace Monument and the Battle of Bannockburn
Experience Centre.
The event at Bannockburn House will also feature the premiere of the short film about the Battle of Bannockburn – and a walk and talk by Dr Murray Cook, flag-making workshops, dance shows inspired by the battle and a Battle of Bannocks cooking competition.
