Danger roadsin Stirling

-

A new study has revealed that Stirling has some of the most dangerous roads in Scotland.

The analysis carried out by the Carinsurance.ae website, looked into Department for Transport data from 2013 to 2020 across all of the country’s local authorities on the rate of reported car accidents per 1000 people.

Stirling comes in third in the poll, with the region racking up an average of 156 road accidents per year - equating to 1.66 road accidents per 1,000 of population.

It trails only Argyll and Bute (1.99 accidents per 1,000) and City of Edinburgh (1.78 per 1,000) in the analysis.

The region’s roads have been in the spotlight with a number of incidents being reported in recent months, including in February 2020 when Buchlyvie mum-offour Amanda Boag lost her life after a gas tanker crashed into her car on the A811 near Arnprior.

Another recent incident saw 79-year-old Kenny Mackenzie killed in a fatal road crash on a stretch of the A85 near Crianlarich after a car driven by German tourist Klaus Huber veered on to the opposite side of the road.
