Stirling Albion boss Darren Young was left frustrated after watching his side lose 2-0 to Elgin City at Forthbank on Saturday.
It was a 10th home league defeat of the season for the Binos - the most of any SPFL club - and also an eighth loss in the past 10 meetings with Elgin.
Albion were three games unbeaten going into the weekend but have struggled for goals in recent months and failed to trouble visiting keeper Daniel Hoban often enough.
Next up is a trip to Coatbridge to face an Albion Rovers side who have lost their last two games 5-0 to Stranraer and 4-1 to Stenhousemuir before the season concludes at home to Edinburgh City on April 30.
Young felt his side had edged the first half against Elgin but was left to bemoan the loss of two poor second-half goals from set-plays.
He said: “It was a massively disappointing afternoon. In the first half I think Elgin had one shot and nothing on target. We were under no pressure whatsoever and were probably the better team but again in the final third we lacked that creativity and things weren’t falling for us.
“We made the change at half-time to bring on big Dylan Mackin and maybe hold the ball up better. There was nothing in the game but the goals we lost were criminal.”
He added: “We huffed and puffed and ended up going long too often. We were not ruthless enough in both boxes and invariably that leads to a result like this. For some reason we just can’t beat Elgin and it’s not good enough - I know that and the players know that.
“In the three games before this we probably deserved three wins, although we ended up with one win and two draws. It leaves you scratching your head to go from getting a good point away to the league champions to losing like we did against Elgin.
“We need to go to Albion Rovers on Saturday and be stronger and more aggressive than them and make the most of the opportunities that come our way.”
