A&E LEFT OUR BABY IN PAIN

Parents hit out after medics fail to X-ray their tot’s fracture despite two trips to casualty

- STUART MCFARLANE

A Stirling dad has hit out after his 10-month-old baby’s fractured arm went undiagnosed for two weeks – despite two trips to A&E at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

Grant Polley and wife Jordan, from Raploch, took little Brooke to the hospital after noticing that she was refusing to crawl on her left hand due to a small fall the previous day.

Doctors raised concerns about giving the youngster an X-ray due to concerns over exposure to radiation.

The parents left but returned a week later after Brooke’s condition failed to improve. They were again told that no X-ray would be given. Finally, following a referral from their GP and a third visit to the hospital, little Brooke was given the scan – which revealed a double fracture.

Grant said: “My daughter has been in pain for two weeks now.

“To have to go up three times before we got the necessary help in my view is unacceptable.”
