Changefor Crianlarich holidaylet
A Crianlarich guesthouse is to be offered for rent as a home.
Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park planners have approved a change of use application by Mary Anderson for Cruach Lodge on Glenfalloch Road.
The three-bedroom dwelling is in the same ownership as a residential property to the immediate north (the applicant’s main residence) but has its own vehicular access, parking and private curtilage.
Cruach Lodge has been used as a holiday home since its construction in 1997 and is operated by Mrs Anderson. She is said to have applied for planning permission to change the use of the guesthouse to a residential dwelling to enable it to be occupied as a private rental property rather than for a holiday let.
One letter of support was received from a neighbour citing lack of private rented accommodation in Crianlarich and the whole of Strathfillan; that there are a lot of people living/working in the area who are unable to find accommodation; that social housing does not become available too often and may go to people outwith the area; and that there is an abundance of tourist accommodation in the area.
In their decision, Park planners said:“the applicant highlights that due to increased operating costs and personal health issues it has become unviable to continue operating the dwelling as a holiday let. The applicant has also provided a statement with a non-exhaustive list highlighting at least seven other properties offering similar visitor accommodation in Crianlarich, many of which are more centrally located.
“The loss of this guesthouse would not result in lack of tourism accommodation in the general area or have any notable impact on the local tourism market. This view is supported by the National Park’s tourism team and West Highland Way business manager.’’
