Officeto become home

An office in Callander is to be turned into a flat.

Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park planners have approved a change of use application from 1 Oak Propertys for Office B, ground floor left at Alastair Mccourt at 95 Main Street.

In their decision, the planners said: “There is a bookshop on one side and residential property on the other. The building is a twostorey red sandstone building with dormers in the roof and a communal main door access.

“The application site is currently a two-roomed office with staff toilet and tea area, with access from the communal stairwell. The first-floor apartment above is a domestic property with bedrooms in the attic space. The rear garden is substantial and laid to lawn with a drying green and brick outshoot.

“The application proposes the conversion of the office space into a one-bedroomed flat with an open plan lounge/ kitchen area and a separate wc/shower room within the existing 38 square metre footprint. The proposed flat will continue to be accessed from the communal stairwell. Minimal interventions are proposed. Access to the communal rear garden would be through the communal access hall.

“The introduction of a residential unit into the property is compatible with the neighbouring residential uses and the footfall within the communal stair is likely to be similar to that currently associated with the office use.”
