Developer Rebellions has given fans a sneak peek at the next instalment of its anti-nazi bulletfest series Sniper Elite.

The fifth instalment of the WW2 shooter franchise is coming to Xbox Series S&X and Xbox One, PS4 and PS5, and PC onmay 26 — and sees hero US Ranger Karl

Fairbourne teaming up with the French Resistance to weaken German fortifications while stuck behind enemy lines in 1944... before uncovering a secret Nazi project that threatens to end the war before the Allies can even arrive.

Sniper Elite’s best known feature is probably its Kill Cam — X-ray slow-mo shots of the moment Karl’s bullets meet their target, showing shattered bones and flesh flying — and Rebellion promises it will now be more realistic and grisly than ever, and will apply to kills with pistols and machine guns as well as your trusty rifle.

New features include the addition of“workbenches”to allow even more customisation.

There will also be a new ‘Invasion’pvp mode — where you can invade another player’s

Campaign as an Axis sniper and engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

And naturally there will be online multiplayer battles of up to 16 competitors.

With your weaponry such a key part of the game, Rebellion has now opened up on just how they created the in-game arsenal — with attention to detail and realism at the heart of it.
