BOWLING CLUB

The club is pleased to say that it is getting ready for the new season. The opening of the green event will take place on Sunday, April 24, gathering at 1.30pm with play commencing at 2pm. A short friendly match is being organised followed by refreshmen­ts. All members are encouraged to attend. Anyone interested in trying out bowls as a new pastime is invited to attend the event or contact Stewart on 07792 659980 to learn about the club and its seasons activities. The small sociable club has some spare equipment for new members to try out.

DRYMEN ART CLUB

The club’s exhibition and sale takes plce this weekend for the first time in three years, tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday from 9am till 5pm in the village hall. Admission is free and refreshmen­ts, teas, coffees, etc. will be available. New members are welcome. Anyone interested should come along to Drymen Village Hall any Wednesday between 1pm and 4pm.

SENIOR CITIZENS’ ASSOCIATIO­N

On Tuesday, President Mary Ronald welcomed a good turnout of 25 members to the AGM. The office bearers remain unchanged but Ruby and Tommy Doyle and Ellen Brown retired from the committee and were thanked for their years of loyal service which were very much appreciate­d by all. Barbara Crooks, Bethia Hillhouse and Elizabeth Mccaig have been kind enough to agree to join the committee and thanks go to them. The business meeting over, Linda then played a selection of piano tunes for “Placename that Tune”, which, judging by the laughter was a bit of lightheart­ed fun and not too competitiv­e. The outing is on Tuesday, May 3, this year travelling by cars to Helensburg­h, leaving Drymen at 2pm. There will be time for a couple of hours in the town and then high tea at the Commodore Hotel at 5pm. Anyone unsure of the travel arrangemen­ts or who can no longer manage please ring Linda on 01360 660706.

The final meeting of Drymen Local History Society this session will take place on Thursday, April 28 in the village
