Resourceful Weaving on to a winner

While there are unsettling moments, and blood is freely spilled, this story is more interested in delivering dark humour, including the fate of maids and a car crash video call.

A movie like this really shouldn’t take itself too seriously but it would have benefitted from less wisecracks and comical reactions to carnage.

The well-off, straight-talking Le Domas’s make the Addams Family look normal. Led by Samara Weaving’s emotional-but-resourceful heroine and summed up best by its crackers climax, Ready or Not is crowd-pleasing, fierce fun.
