A former outdoor centre near Killin is to be turned into a family home.

In 2020 Abernethy Trust decided to close the Ardeonaig Outdoor Centre one of its four Scottish centres - due to the impact of Covid-19.

The Christian charity was gifted the building on the south side of Loch Tay back in 1984 but, having had to close the outdoor centre during lockdown, it then decided it would have to close for good with effect from September 1, 2020.

Now, as part of plans to sell off the site, the trust has been granted conditional consent for a change of use of the outdoor activity building on the land to a residential house.

In their decision, the planners said: “The application site comprises of Brae Lodge, a substantial two storey building of a traditional design and associated outbuildings. The buildings are set within extensive grounds, flanked by mature trees. Loch Tay and the mountains sit beyond.

“The site has an existing access via a private road and on-site parking.

“The planning agent has advised that they have not had any interest other than from a purchaser looking to use the property as a residential dwelling house, hence the submission of this application.

“The outdoor activity centre use would cease entirely at the point any permission granted for residential use was implemented.

“Prior to the current use the building was formally occupied as a residential dwelling up until 1984.”
