FADS fly the flag at finals

-

Fintry Amateur Dramatic Society are to represent Scotland at the One-act Play Festival British Finals 2022.

The Scottish Finals of the annual One-act Play Festival were held in the Orkney Theatre, Kirkwall, at the end of April.

Fintry ADS were ultimately crowned the winners, with their production of Simon Mawdsley’s ‘Housebound’.

The play, which won Best New Play Award at the 2013 Cambridge Drama Festival, is about an agoraphobic housewife who’s taken hostage by a reluctant villain. As the desperate moments tick by, an uneasy rapport develops between the unlikely companions, which is tense, touching and very funny.

As well as winning the Wheatley Tassie for first place, Fintry ADS was also awarded the Donald T Farmer Trophy for best theatrical moment.

The team – director Gavin Paterson, and actors Anna Foran and Andy Barr - will now go on to represent Scotland at the British Finals in Rhyl, Wales, on June 24 and 25.
