ART DISPLAY WIN FOR WENDY

-

The three-day Drymen Art Club Exhibition included 140 paintings by local artists.

The community-based art club has consistently maintained a high standard of work.

Despite the coronavirus lockdown the members have continued working and the people who visited the show and the loyal supporters agreed that the general standard was even higher with some excellent paintings on display.

Over the three days visitors entered a ballot to vote on the best painting in the exhibition. The artist providing the best in show painting wins the Wendy Shuker silver salver.

The worthy winner was Aileen Semple with her pastel picture‘…and the working day begins’.

Her picture features a bus in the city with the early morning low sunshine reflecting off the wet grey street.

The success of the show is not just to display the members’work but also raises awareness of the opportunity for people with an interest in drawing and painting to come together in the village hall on Wednesday afternoons over the winter. A number of visitors showed an interest in joining next season.

With 37 paintings sold the exhibition was deemed a great success. The unsold paintings will be available to purchase at the One Day Sale on the last Saturday in November.
