Rugby fun in Fintry
The West Stirlingshire village of Fintry was bursting at the seams on Sunday when Strathendrick Rugby Club hosted their 13th Annual Charity Mini Rugby Festival at the sports club.
Some of the best clubs from the West of Scotland took part and enjoyed a funfilled day with around 1000 boys and girls aged from six to 11 playing.
Clubs participating included Allan Glens, Birkmyre, Glasgow Accies, GHK, GHA, East Kilbride, Helensburgh, Lenzie, Loch Lomond, Mclaren and West of Scotland.
Reputed to be Scotland’s largest mini rugby festival, some 1500 friends and parents also enjoyed the day with food stalls, bouncy castle, raffles and stalls and Strathendrick president Jeremy Pemberton-pigott said: “It is important that we resume these events after enduring the effects of Covid and get back to some form of normality.
“We are delighted to be hosting this event again and nearly 1000 rugby playing boys and girls who have taken part in the festival.
“Everyone has had a fun day in the sun overlooked by magnificent scenic views of the Fintry Hills. It’s great tonic for us all!”
He added: “This event is only possible thanks to more than 60 club volunteers who helped make this a well-run and smooth event. We appreciate their efforts.”
Funds raised from the event will be going towards three charities – Doddie’s MND Charity, Strathcarron Hospice and CHAS.
