WI NEWS

On April 14, members enjoyed a talk from Melanie Woods, a local girl who most members have known since she was a child. She talked about her journey from able-bodied PE teacher, the accident where she was knocked off her bike and her rehabilitation at the Spinal Injuries Unit in Glasgow to how she became a competitor in the wheelchair race events at the Tokyo Paralympics last year. Melanie’s “can do” attitude and her independence since her accident are an inspiration and all at the WI wish her success as she goes forward towards the Commonwealth Games this year in Birmingham. The next meeting is on May 12 at 2pm in the Winnock Hotel. This is the AGM and last meeting of this session. There are plans for a late lunch/high tea as well as the usual raffle.
