Friday was warmest day of 2022 so far

Although the weekend was mostly cloudy with some rain there were less clouds than expected last week which meant some good sunny intervals developed, resulting in last Friday being our warmest day of 2022 so far reaching 20.1 Centigrade, writes Observer weather editor Scott Maclean .

It was another frost free week and reasonably dry with only 2.54mm of rainfall. The lowest temperatur­e was 0.8 Centigrade on Thursday, April 28. The maximum daily rainfall was 2.03mm on Saturday, April 30. Windspeeds reached 25mph on Sunday, April 24.

The first week of May is set to be similar to the last week of April with lots of cloud around but some sunny intervals should develop but sporadic rain cannot be ruled out on most days. Breezy in the second half of the week. Top temperatur­es around 17 Centigrade with lows dropping to 3 Centigrade.

Did You Know – In the last ten years the month of April in 2022 was our fourth driest April with only 27.17mm of rain and the top five driest April’s in the last decade have all happened in the last six years.
