Kippen Street Fayre back with a bang

-

A popular village street fayre is to return with a full schedule of events for the first time in two years.

Kippen Street Fayre will return with a bang on Saturday, June 11.

The 2020 edition of the popular event was unable to go ahead due to the Covid pandemic and with restrictions still in place in 2021 the event was a scaled back, socially distanced edition with a Kippen Street Fayre Yard Sale Trail.

But the organisers say that this year they will be back better than ever.

A spokesperson for the organising committee said: “We have a few changes this year, such as with the fancy dress competition. For the first time ever, there will be an entrance‘fee’, in the form of a Start-up Stirling donation. Donations have been down in recent months so we invited Start-up Stirling to come along as our guest judges this year and arrange a donation collection as part of the Fayre.

“Also our King of Kippen competition will be changing. The King of Kippen competition was where volunteers could come forward and compete through a series of‘trials’in order to be crowned King of Kippen, however over recent years the street fayre queen tradition has morphed into having a Street Fayre King and Queen tradition, both chosen from the P7 class of

Kippen Primary, so to avoid royal confusion we will now commence the Jester of Kippen Competition.”

The theme of this year’s fayre is‘heroes vs Villains’. The event will be open from 10am until 4pm. The fancy dress judging at the primary school, on Main Street, at 10.30am and the fancy dress parade starts at 11am followed by King and Queen crowning.

The dog show will take place at the primary school at noon.

There will be around 50 stalls, selling food and drinks, crafts and for charities. There will also be children’s entertainment – surprise special guests – and much more.
