Choir raise voices in support of Ukrainians and boost appeal
Stirling City Choir performed a concert at the Church of the Holy Rude last month to raise £500 for the Ukraine appeal.
It comprised a performance of‘the Armed Man: A Mass For Peace’by Karl Jenkins.
The music uses sacred and secular texts and recounts the terrible consequences of war. Singers were accompanied by a small group of musicians and young soloists with loud drums, trumpets and a cello solo in the Benedictus.
Under the direction of Musical Director Michael Segaud, and accompanied by
Assistant Director Ian
Boulter, the choir, accompanists and soloists gave a wonderful performance of this pertinent piece of music.
A retiring collection brought in over £500 for the Ukraine appeal.
Next year’s Spring concert will be a performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
There will also be a Christmas concert in December this year.
Rehearsals will resume on Tuesday evenings at the start of September in Park Church - new members welcome.
