There will be a meeting on Tuesday, May 10 at 7.30pm in the village hall. Speaker for the evening will be from Trossachs Search and Rescue. All meetings are open to non-members on payment of £4 at the door. This being the final meeting of the session and the AGM, there is no competition this month. Wine/ non alcoholic juice will be served as well as the usual tea/coffee. Please bring your own glass/ cup and snack.

Following on from victory at Dunblane last Saturday, the club will travel to Blackford in the West Perthshire league tomorrow (Saturday). It is beginning to feel more like a normal season with players competing in the Scottish National regional competitions and ladies pairs playing at Aberfoyle, both on Sunday. The next meeting is on Thursday, May 12 at 2pm in the Winnock Hotel. This is the AGM and last meeting of this session. The business part of the meeting will be followed by a late lunch/high tea as agreed at the last meeting. The cost for the meal is £15. Please look out for an email asking for your choice of meal as we need to let the hotel know numbers attending and your choice from the menu. Members are reminded to bring their voting papers. As usual there will be a raffle.
DRYMEN & DISTRICT SENIOR CITIZENS’ ASSOCIATION
On Tuesday the group headed to Helensburgh for a closer-to-home than usual annual outing, travelling by car courtesy of eight members who kindly volunteered to drive and thanks go to them. The rather unpromising morning brightened to a fairly warm dry afternoon allowing members to fully enjoy a couple of hours in the town. Everyone then met up for a much enjoyed High Tea in the Commodore Hotel. The outing concludes the 2021/22 year but everyone is looking forward to gathering together again on Tuesday, September 20.

RAILTON SCOTT CANCER APPEAL KIPPEN
Dianne and Moira would like to thank everyone for helping to raise £275 for Cancer Research at the whist in the Reading Room. Thanks also for raffle prizes donated and Skinners of Kippen for whist prizes. Helen’s tea as always was very welcome. Results: 1st Lady Muriel Campbell; 1st Gent Betty Mcallister (as a gent); Booby: Claire Johnston and David Campbell. Once again it has not been possible to have the annual door to door collection and Whist Drive in the Village Hall to raise funds for Cancer Research UK but it is still possible to donate to this worthy cause via the box in Mcnicoll’s Shop. There will also be a crowdfunding page set up.

The committee is holding its AGM on Monday, May 23 at 7pm in the village hall. The committee is looking for fresh individuals to take on the posts of chairperson, treasurer and secretary. The present committee would be happy to continue for a period to assist new post holders. If you would like to safeguard the future of the village hall, get to know more people in the area and put something back into the community - please come along to the meeting.
RUSKIE SWI NEWS

If you cannot attend please give your voting paper to a committee member. Two ladies from Kippen SWI will be tellers for the evening. The speaker for the evening is Mark Drury from Doune. Mark saw a programme on TV called ‘Something for Nothing’ and decided to start making silver jewellery out of silver spoons. He will have some of his finished items of jewellery with him for sale. All profits go to Strathcarron Hospice. Mark accepts cash and cheques made payable to Strathcarron Hospice. This is the AGM, but as always the meeting is open to all. Competitions: three suggestions for next year’s syllabus. Puskie Plate: Homemade bag, any fabric.

THORNHILL NORRIESTON CHURCH

As all legal requirements regarding places of worship have now been lifted and attendance in church is beginning to feel more “normal”, we still need to take care of each other and to continue to be careful. Some worshippers may still feel more at ease when wearing a mask, hand sanitising is still sensible and it is in everyone’s interest that we should all continue to monitor our health and that of our households. Those who prefer to join in the worship from home, or even from holiday, can join in on Zoom. And the dedicated phone line, 01786 585122 will be updated.
GARDENING SOCIETY
