Bridge fix contract to be awarded next month

-

Work to repair a crumbling bridge in Croftamie took a step closer to getting underway after the council confirmed that a contractor should be awarded the project next month.

In September last year, the A809 road through Croftamie was shut – from the B834 to the A811 – after a section of wall and pavement at Catterburn Bridge partially collapsed. Stirling Council put a diversion route in place, via the B834 and A81 to Ballat Crossroads, with HGVS diverted via the B834 and A875 through Killearn and Balfron.

This week a council spokesperson said: “Design work associated with Catterburn Bridge is now complete and the procedure to appoint a contractor is underway, with project award expected to take place in mid-june.

“We are continuing to work closely with utility providers, Nature Scot, Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and SEPA to ensure onsite works can commence as swiftly as possible once a contractor is secured.”
