Eco issues to be aired
Dunblane’s St Mary’s Hall is hosting an Eco Question Time on Wednesday, May 18.
The event, which starts at 7.30pm, features four expert speakers and is the first of two environmental initiatives, the second of which is an Eco Fest in the same hall on Saturday, June 11 from
11am-4pm.
At the first event speakers will focus on questions such as how to consume less energy and save money, what steps we can take to reduce the damage being done to the environment, and whether we can get better at reducing waste.
Dr Martin Johnstone will focus on the overall threat of global warming and the consequences of this for climate change; Laura Young will illustrate how the climate crisis is already hitting those living in the poorest countries in the world where drought and famine are already causing severe human suffering; Alasdair Tollemache will talk about issues specific to climate change in Scotland; and Malcolm Rooney will focus on the steps each of us can take to reduce emissions and waste, and the cumulative positive impact these steps can have.
Everyone is very welcome to attend; there is no need to book, and there is no charge for admission.
At the second event on June 11 there will be an opportunity to meet and talk with a wide range of exhibitors from regional and local organisations that are involved in issues connected with use of energy, reducing consumption and waste, protecting the environment, and finding ways of taking positive steps to help all aspects of wildlife.
There will also be a chance to talk to people with experience of owning an electric car, to gain some experience of e-bikes, and learn ways of keeping bicycles up to scratch.
There will be tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes as well as musical entertainment. All are welcome to the family event.
