SNP return as largest group

CLACKS COUNCIL

The SNP are the largest party after last week’s Clackmanna­nshire Council poll.

The party now has nine out of the local authority’s 18 councillor­s - one more than their 2017 result.

And the Greens now have their first ever councillor in the Wee County with Bryan Quinn in Clackmanna­nshire South.

The Conservati­ves have three councillor­s, down from five last time round, while Labour remain on five.

Clackmanna­nshire SNP group leader Ellen Forson said this week:“we would like to thank everyone in Clackmanna­nshire who voted for us - returning the SNP as the largest group on Clackmanna­nshire Council with nine councillor­s which was last achieved in 1999.

“This result is an endorsemen­t of our solid track record and positive vision for the future of Clackmanna­nshire and we look forward to getting back to work for people and communitie­s across the area.” The results are: Clackmanna­nshire Central: Wendy Hamilton (SNP); Jane Mctaggart (SNP; Janine Rennie (Labour).

Clackmanna­nshire East: Denis Coyne (Conservati­ve); Scott Harrison (SNP); Kathleen Martin (Labour).

Clackmanna­nshire North: Donald Balsillie (SNP); Martha Benny (Conservati­ve); William Keogh (Labour); Fiona Law (SNP).

Clackmanna­nshire South: Kenneth Earle (Labour); Ellen Forson (SNP); Craig Holden (SNP); Bryan Quinn (Green).

Clackmanna­nshirewest: Phil Fairlie (SNP); Darren Lee (Conservati­ve); Graham Lindsay (SNP); Mark Mccluckie (Labour).
