Homeless unit window damaged in attack
A resident of Stirling’s homeless unit damaged a window there by hitting it with a hammer. Darren Cumming had admitted a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at the Springkerse accommodation on August 17, 2021.
The 34-year-old had shouted, swore and uttered threats of violence while holding the hammer and had repeatedly struck the window with the implement.
His not guilty pleas to a further charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at Dunard House in Bannockburn, and having a knife there, on April 4, 2021, as well as having a hammer at Springkerse unit and recklessly damaging property there by breaking a window with a hammer were all accepted by the Crown.
At Stirling Sheriff Court last week, Cumming’s lawyer told Sheriff Derek Hamilton that a report was not available for his client as there had been confusion between social work and housing department appointments.
Sheriff Hamilton further deferred sentence until June 15 for a criminal justice social work report and restriction of liberty order assessment and continued bail.
But the sheriff warned Cumming if no report was available on that occasion he would be remanded in custody.
