Man denies attacking partner at rural hotel

-

A man has denied attacking his partner while they were working at a rural Stirling district hotel.

Jordan Hammond, who appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday, is accused of grabbing the man by the neck and punching him to the face.

The 25-year-old pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault to injury aggravated by abuse of a partner or ex-partner at the Rowardennan Hotel on Tuesday May 3 this year.

Hammond’s lawyer Virgil Crawford told Sheriff Alison Michie that the accused and complainer had been living and working together at the hotel. However, Hammond is no longer working there and now living with his parents in Cambuslang.

The complainer was still working at the hotel and there had not been any further contact between them.

The solicitor added that Hammond had lost his job as a result of the matter.

Mr Crawford said that since the accused had no previous convictions, and no matters outstanding, standard bail conditions were sufficient.

Sheriff Michie agreed to grant bail with standard conditions and set a trial for July 7 and intermediate diet for June 21.
