Chance to help create seed beds and paths

-

Treelink has plenty of activities organised over the coming weeks.

The regular third Saturday of the month session at the tree nursery will be on Saturday May 21 from 10am until noon.

The event is a chance to take part in creating new seed beds and paths as Treelink’s growing capacity is expanded.

Last year Treelink volunteers removed huge amounts of Himalayan balsam from Old Harbour Woods.

A spokesperson said:“it is springing up again this year, but not nearly as much as previously and many other plants are now getting a chance to grow.

“We will be holding sessions to clear this year’s growth on Wednesday June 1 and Wednesday June 8 from 7-9pm. Those who were involved last year will remember that Himalayan balsam is shallow rooted and easy to pull up by hand.

“But they may also remember the stinging nettles - shorts are not advised and gloves essential. We have some gloves for loan.

“There is no need to book for these evening activities but it helps us to know who is coming and you can let us know by emailing treelinkstirling@outlook.com.”

Old Harbour Woods is behind Riverside Quay and stretch along to the back of the Premier Inn. The entrance is through the pillars on Shore Road or beside the Premier Inn. Meet at the pillars at 7pm.
