Workshopand containersplan

-

A workshop in Callander could be revamped and container storage units placed on the site.

Applicants 1 Oak Propertys Ltd have submitted an application to Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park planners for the workshop in Aros Lane.

The proposals include a change of use to Class 6 (Storage and distribution) comprising the installation of three container storage units along with alterations to an existing workshop proposed for Class 4 use (Business) and Class 5 use (General Industrial).

In documents submitted with the application, agents for the developer said: “The existing building the applicant understands was formerly a joiner’s workshop.

“The applicant proposed to refurbish the building with a new insulated roof, installation of pedestrian access door onto yard and removal of existing window onto rear access path as this window is on the boundary and could be deemed a fire risk to adjacent properties.

“The building would then be rented as a class 4 (light industry) or class 5 (industrial) unit.

“Parking for the unit would be contained within the yard.

“The applicant proposes to locate three 20foot containers to the west side of the existing yard. These would be rented for self-storage or used in association with the building’s use. Access to the building and container storage would be via the existing gated access from Aros Lane, a one-way street accessed from Callander Main Street to the north.”

Park planners are expected to make a recommendation on the application in due course.
